Growing Pains

By | Beer | No Comments

In many ways, the beer we brew is more than just beer to us.  It is a blank canvas on which to paint, a bare page on which to write a story, and in some respects like our offspring.  We work to bring multiple mediums into one entity that is greater than the sum of its parts.  It is enriched, cultivated and matured until it is ready to make its way into the world as a productive member of society.  Such as any creation described above, it often has a mind of its own.  This is the case with one of the beers we have scheduled for our launch parties on the 12th & 13th.

Our Mash Confusion Wheat Ale will not be ready for its introduction as planned and will have to be delayed for a week or so.  We’re disappointed, but know that quality beer is worth the wait and the last thing we want to do is rush its natural fruition.

Though we are disappointed in this development, we are proud to have three of our beers ready for all of you who are eager to try them at our launch. Breaking Blonde Ale, Time Traveler IPA, & Fashionably Late APA are ready to leave the nest and spread their wings.

We apologize for any disappointment and appreciate all of the support we’ve received from those who are eager to sample our beer.  The good news is that the Mash Confusion Wheat Ale will be ready to sample very soon at both Shakers and The Red Dog Grill.

As always, we’ll keep you informed as things develop…

It Takes a Village

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

There is an old African Proverb that states, “It takes a village to raise a child.” The same can easily be said for our dream of bringing a local craft nano-brewery to Starved Rock Country.

We have many thanks to give and we want to make public record of those who have supported, inspired, cultivated and spurned us to follow through with our dream of bringing great beer to the people who we work and live beside in the area we know and love as home. This is probably an incomplete list; we’ve racked our brains and tried to remember everyone who has helped us along the way. If we’ve forgotten anyone, we apologize. Feel free to let us know, and we’ll make sure to buy you a pint in the very near future!

The following is a list of those intimately involved in supporting us in plucking a dream from the clouds and bringing it to reality. Thank you to the following…

Jessica Warren, for your continuous support of our dreams, support on every fathomable level and your patience, for the breakfast quesadillas on brew mornings and late night snacks on brew evenings.

Heather Jenkins, for your continuous support of our dreams and willingness to let us pursue them.

Adam Wampler, for your superior construction skills, without which we would not have the foundation of our humble little brewery. Truth be told, without you, we would probably still be trying to figure out how to make two walls meet.

Amanda Hart, for your superior web design and prowess for making all things virtual seamless and aesthetically pleasing. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to post this very blog post.

Matthew Solis, for designing the coolest f*cking logo we could have imagined. Your skills are unmatched.

Yelena Ogan, for your sage advice relative to talent development, help with our message and for teaching us how to do proper Russian vodka shots.

Christie Jones, for your unmatched editing and language skills and continued support.

Tim Walsh, for your help and support providing electricity to our brewery. It’s kind of a big deal.

Bryan Karner, for your help in making fresh, clean water a viable resource in our brewery. Again, kind of a big deal!

Kevin Bressendorf, for your continued enthusiasm and generous contributions to making this a legitimate enterprise.

Matt Stafford, for guiding us through the special usage permit that made all of this possible.

Monica Warren, for your continued support and crafty ingenuity which has buoyed our efforts on many occasions.

There are many others of course who have provided kind words of support, inspiration or have just been a positive means to a positive end. They are as follows, in no particular order:

Jordyn Warren, Camryn Chapman, Maddison Jenkins, Margaret Lee Jones, Clint & Tammie Warren, Brad Warren, Dick & Lisa Chapman, Amanda Chapman, Barbara & Kinsley Jones, Dan & Kristen Pierce, Randi Mooney, Leita Ritt, Grant & Kathleen Jenkins, Sonja & Shay Graffius, Mike Warren, Kristen Wampler, Rich Bridges, Tom Heimsoth, Gary Mcgrath, Kevin McGrath, Stacy Ingalls Wilson, Israel Juarez, Tamy Barry, Dave & Ashley Alsvig, Mark & Ashley Bucz, Lafluer, Robbie Hart, Mike Billy, John & Clayton from, Aaron Ogan, Brian Hunt, Megan Kline, Mike Billy, Rob Hasty, Bob Fernandez, Bob Sandy & all of the MASH members, Greg Barnes, Luke Dobrich, Dewayne Conright, Pete Burgess & Ashley Brandt.

We would be remiss in failing to mention all of you who have taken an interest in supporting the idea that great craft beer can be produced in Starved Rock Country by local folks who are passionate about it.

In earnest, we can not wait to get pints of our beers in your hands; we only hope that we deliver on your support and faith in us. Our ambitions are broad, but we remain continuously humbled by the support of our friends, family and neighbors.
